Clive Fenton Bybee
Tropic
1919 - 2008
Clive Fenton Bybee, 89, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, November 23, 2008 from complications due to age at the Garfield Memorial Extended Care Center in Panguitch, Utah.
He was born November 8, 1919, in Tropic, Utah, to Levi Marion and Ella Riding Bybee. He was the fourth child in a family of 14 children where he learned the value of hard work at a young age. Clive graduated from high school and joined the army where he served his country honorably during World War II. He also served in the CCC’s.
Clive married Thelma June Quilter in the St. George Temple on February 8, 1951. They were blessed with six sons and three daughters and one adopted daughter. They also opened their home to four Indian placement daughters. Clive was a self-taught mechanic and owned and ran Bybee’s Service Station in Tropic for 30 years. He was also a school bus driver for the Garfield County School District. His grandkids have many fond memories of riding in “Grandpa’s yellow school bus”. He had a great love for the Lord, his family and especially his wife.
He was an active member of the LDS Church where he served in many callings throughout his life, including bishop of the Tropic Ward for eight years and a member of the stake presidency. Clive enjoyed growing a large garden, getting together with his family and spending time with his wife. They loved each other very much.
